things would be different
if we took account for our mistakes.
so what is left of our courage?
we've taken enough for one earth and for a lifetime.
this is the end of what we know.
we’ve taken more than we will ever need,
but we still consume ourselves in our fucking graves.
who will pay for our mistakes?
history repeats again and again.
who will remain and who will rebuild
what’s left from our ashes?
rise and fall,
forever lost.
rise and fall,
forever forever.
we’ve taken enough for one earth and for a lifetime.
this is the end of what we know.
we’ve taken more than we will ever need,
but we still consume ourselves in our fucking graves.
so i keep asking myself
who is in fucking charge?
who will pay for our mistakes?
history repeats again and again.
who will remain and who will rebuild
what’s left from our ashes?
rise and fall
forever lost.
rise and fall
forever lost.

oxymoron

each year hundreds of millions of students enroll in higher education without the slightest idea of what they want to do with the rest of their lives. they’re forced to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for their studies, or take out gargantuan loans in order to make it through. only a little more than half of the students end up graduating, and only half of that end up getting a job in their field of study. even in countries where college tuition is supposedly free, you’ve got to have some pretty good luck to think its not a waste of time.
you’ve got so much to do
and so much to see
don’t hold yourself back.
there’s so much more to life
than this idea that you need to rush into the job market
in your early twenties.
dream job is an oxymoron,
they’ll only cut you a check if you do what they say.
don’t fall for it.
dream job is an oxymoron,
they’ll only cut you a check if you do what they say.
don’t fall for it.
what kind of sick society
makes a kid decide at the age of eighteen
what he should do with the rest of his life?
never be afraid to change your mind.
never be afraid to try something new.
all that matters, is your satisfied with the outcome.
don’t make decisions based on fear.
don’t wait until you’re retired
to start your bucket list.
dream job is an oxymoron

to the voiceless

who gets to decide how much an hour of my time is worth?
is it the man who’s paying me to do his job for him, huh?
now i understand he’s got a lot of costs to think about,
i just hoped he wouldn’t think to count himself twice.
i’m helping you build your empire,
the least you could do, throw me a fucking bone.
you don’t own me, you never fucking will.
there’s plenty more of me, only a few of you.
protect the powerless,
give a voice to the voiceless,
power in numbers.
now let me ask again,
who get’s to decide how much an hour of my time is worth?
is it the man who writes laws to deregulate the man?
now i understand that he donated to his campaign,
i’d just hope he’d follow through with all his promises.
i’m helping you build your empire,
the least you could do, throw me a fucking bone.
you don’t own me, you never fucking will.
there’s plenty more of me, only a few of you.
protect the powerless,
give a voice to the voiceless,
power in numbers.
the more concrete laws in place that benefit those on top,
the longer the power stays in the hands of the few.
disrupt the power structure,
they don’t need our help.
down with the system.
power in numbers

standing still

when dust falls,
no sky is left.
when misery
strikes our backs.
strikes our backs.
when slivers fall
and hell is all around,
no standing still
until the rain comes back.
standing still,
breathless.
standing still,
spiritless.
hold your breath
until the rain comes back.
we’re all alone.
we must fight to survive.
no backing down.
never step back.
when slivers fall
and hell is all around,
no standing still
until the rain comes back.
standing still,
breathless.
standing still,
spiritless.
hold your breath
until the rain comes back

between the pages

we’re all just flowers
that never bloom,
forever stuck between the pages of the book.
we’re all just flowers
that never bloom,
forever stuck between the pages of the book.
we’re all just flowers that never bloom,
forever stuck between the pages,
and you can’t weigh us down.
we have our voices.
dust off the cover and learn from our anger.
some people spend their whole lives in the shadows
afraid to show who they truly are,
but today we’re stepping out.
today nothing stands in our way.
you can’t take this away from me,
you can’t take this away from me,
you can’t take this away from me.
forever stuck between the pages
and you can’t weigh us down.
we have our voices.
dust off the cover and learn from our anger.
we’re all just flowers that never bloom.
we’re all just flowers that never bloom.
we’re all just flowers forever.
although the chapter may be finished,
the end has only just begun.
move into the light,
find your platform,
dig in your heels and
never let them silence you.
and you can’t weigh us down.
we have our voices.
dust of the cover
and learn from our anger.

dialog

who the fuck do you think you are?
you’re never the same
from day to day,
each day you’re a brand new version
of the same old person.
don’t make the same mistakes
and end up walking backwards.
i hope you know
that you don’t have to end up this way.
and i’m sure you know bad habits die hard.
trust me i understand that nobody’s perfect,
but that’s no excuse not to try and better yourself.
the world has lots to offer in terms of education,
but if you’re not paying attention,
its easy to find yourself stuck in the mud.
we’re not holier than thou,
just trying to promote dialog.
we’re not holier than thou,
just trying to encourage revelation of thought.
why the fuck do you think
you’re never the same from day to day?
each day is a brand new chance
to learn from the experience.
don’t throw it all away and hide in your ignorance.
each new day is another opportunity
to change your life the way you see fit,
but if you’re not paying attention,
but if you’re not paying attention,
you’re fucked.
its easy to find yourself stuck in the mud.
stuck in the mud.
stuck in the mud.
the mud.
we’re not holier than thou,
just trying to promote dialog.
we’re not holier than thou,
just trying to encourage revelation of thought.

another line in the sand.
these lines in the sand
are nothing more than just lines in the sand,
but the meaning behind them
is causing them to grow faster and taller than bamboo chutes.
those on either side of the line
are not so different from the other.
we can keep drawing these damn lines,
but soon we’re gonna box ourselves in.
is that what you want?
what are you afraid of?
open the flood gates and let me in.
i am one of you,
just caught behind enemy lines.
just pick up a stick and draw
a new line in the sand
this is the most mobile generation
even with all these restrictions put in place,
and terrorism in western europe
is at its lowest point in the past forty years.
alright, look.
drawing lines and digging moats
will do nothing but isolate ourselves.
there’s a sense of false security,
but at what cost of our freedom?
most people willing to join us
are afraid of the same things as us,
and it’s probably all our fault anyway.
did you all just forget,
that we have soldiers on their soil?
so we can tear apart their country,
but we can’t give them a home?
no more war,
no more oil.
no more troops
on their soil.
now i just have one thing that i want to say
to all those considered asylum seekers or refugees:
welcome.
open the floodgates and let me in.
i am one of you,
just caught behind enemy lines.
just pick up a stick and draw
a new line in thesand

lost at sea

drowning in hostile surf.
as far as you can see,
nothing to hold,
and no one to fish you out of this mess.
no one turns the tide
at the world’s end
until the world ends.
a community of fate,
left alone by the world.
the only chance is to commit their lives to the sharks.
far from eye, far from heart.
hope gets lost with every wave that is to take.
what was our duty again?
act like humans and fix this exported mess.
what did we have accomplished,
raising a fucking fortress?
fuck this cold indifference.
we will burn in hell
for driving this lost course until the bitter end.
we commit their lives to the sharks.
guilty as charged we are
